Mühlbach... shopping and cappuccino with the flair of a medieval village
Place: Rio di Pusteria
The market town of Rio di Pusteria [in German: Mühlbach] with its medieval charm is situated in the centre of the holiday destination. Meticulously renovated mansions and well-preserved frescoes, as well as ancient family coats of arms tell the history of this town, which was first mentioned in a document in the year 1056. Today, contemporary convenience and humble traditions complement each other harmoniously in this town, located at the interface and old trade route between the Isarco and Pusteria valleys. Tranquil squares and winding lanes invite visitors to slow down and take a break from modern life, while the busy life of the town centre is perfect for a leisurely stroll. After a shopping excursion in the sunny medieval town one can relax in one of many cafés with sun terraces. To enjoy your holiday even more, between the end of May and mid-October your host can give you the so-called AlmenCard, which offers you free unlimited use of the funiculars, cable cars and buses up to the Rodengo Alpine pasture [in German: Rodenecker Alm] but also access to an eventful side program.
